World debut of the amarok single cab
The Amarok Double Cab arrived in South Africa in September last year and immediately set a new benchmark for the class. Advanced engine technology, extensive active and passive safety systems, and a high level of comfort and specification set the Amarok apart from its competitors. Not surprisingly the demand for the Amarok Double Cab soon exceeded supply.

18 July 2011 - “Move the World Tour” Takes Man and Machine to the Limit

Tracks in the Congo consisting of nothing but sand and mud, closed African borders, minefields, floods, nowhere to fill up - there are
practically no challenges the Joachim Franz Team hasn’t had to face during its present „Move the World Tour 2011”. In the course of
their expedition the Wolfsburg HIV Activists aim to cross 49 countries in four continents in 85 days, driving about 62,000 kilometres
in the process. 54,000 of these have been covered already. The expedition team still has to complete the final part, which will
involve a drive of about 8,000 kilometres across Australia. Ten days have been planned in for this. Volkswagen Commercial
Vehicles is supporting the expedition with five Volkswagen Amarok.

HIV activist Joachim Franz leads expedition through 50 countries
Hannover, 29 April 2011. In the tenth year of the World Aids Awareness Expedition (WAAE), Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles are
once again supporting extreme athlete Joachim Franz in his fight against HIV, with the company supplying five Volkswagen Amarok
with special fittings and equipment for the “Move the world Tour”. This year, the adventurer’s team is travelling in a “W” shape over
the globe: The expedition began last week in Vancouver, Canada, and at the moment the convoy is under way in Central America,
heading for Argentina. From there the journey continues through Europe, southwards again to South Africa, then back up to Egypt
and on to Russia and China, with the final leg leading to Australia. In the process, the participants are aiming to travel through 50
countries in 100 days.

Sadly, poachers are killing our Rhinos at an alarming rate to meet the ever increasing demand for Rhino horn, which is believed to
have medicinal value in some countries. If Rhino poaching continues to escalate at its current rate, the Rhino could become extinct
in less than a decade, gone to all generations.

Volkswagen Amarok drives the Rhino Protection Initiative
On the 22nd June 2011 Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles announced the sponsorship of six Volkswagen Amarok bakkies to the
Rhino Protection Initiative at a media conference held at the Johannesburg Zoo. The R2-million sponsorship is part of the
partnership between Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and the Wilderness Foundation, the pioneers and administrators of the
Forever Wild Rhino Protection Initiative.

1 DECEMBER 2009, VOLKSWAGEN AMAROK TO DEBUT IN SOUTH AFRICA IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2010
With the Amarok, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is now also entering the segment of midrange pick-ups, representing an annual market volume of two million vehicles worldwide. The Amarok is not only the fourth model series of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand - Caddy, T5 and Crafter, it is also the first 1-tonne class pick-up to be developed in Germany. The new model unifies the robustness demanded of a pick-up with innovative technology, high safety standards and top values in fuel efficiency, comfort and ergonomics. Production is about ready to begin at our "Pacheco" plant in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
