Food First: How Tavcor Motor Group Fueled Futures This Mandela Month

Through the month of July, the Tavcor Motor Group team dedicated our Mandela Month initiative to a single, critical mission: ensuring no young child goes hungry.

Our core focus for the month was entirely on food first. We recognise that proper daily nutrition is not just about filling a belly; it is the vital foundation for a child’s social development, physical growth, and early educational success. A hungry child cannot play, learn, or thrive.

To bring this initiative to life, we partnered with Ubuntu Pathways, based in Zwide, to distribute a highly nutritious, vitamin-enriched meal product called Maxi Blend. This targeted meal formulation ensures that growing children receive the exact macronutrients required for healthy brain and body development.

Throughout July, our teams across the Eastern Cape and Southern Cape delivered these supplies directly to where they were needed most.

Through Ubuntu Pathways, we visited Noluthando Pre-School and KwaKhaya in Zwide, taking Maxi-Blend to Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres and vulnerable families. We joined a well-run and lively local community kitchen, Nonzame in Zwide as an extension of our support.

In George, our team joined forces with Nonzame Play Group and Nompumelelo Creche in Thembalethu, donating food socks with a similar nutritional breakdown; and prepared and served warm meals at the Mossel Bay Soup Drive and Hope To The Hopeless Soup Kitchen in Knysna.

Our long-standing commitment to Khaya Chesire continued in July, with support of food parcels for the families and revisiting our garden project from last year to revive the garden beds.

Being on the ground allowed our team to see the immediate, human impact of partnership with local NPOs who work in our communities daily. Together, we are proud to have fueled the future, ensuring that one act of kindness delivers nourishment today and hope for tomorrow.
