At Tavcor Motor Group, we believe that a great “drive” isn’t just about the cars we sell—it’s about the environment we drive them in.
This year on World Penguin Day, we’re taking our commitment to local conservation a step further with our renewed partnership with SANCCOB (The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds) to bolster local marine life protection and rehabilitation.
You might wonder what a flightless bird has to do with a motor group. The answer lies in the ecosystem.
“TAVCOR is committed to environmental conservation, and as a coastal dealer group we believe that giving back to our marine community is pivotal. In partnership with SANCCOB, we are proud to support the highly endangered African Penguin through vital education and conservation initiatives. By playing even a small part, we hope to help reverse the devastating decline of this iconic species. This forms an important pillar of TAVCOR’s sustainability efforts, as we honour our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and protecting the environment for future generations”, says Megan Stow, Director.
As a company with a 75-year legacy of operating along South Africa’s beautiful coastline, Tavcor Motor Group knows that our business doesn’t stop at the edge of the road—it extends right to the water’s edge.
We have expanded our “colony” by adopting three African penguins through SANCCOB, Rocky, Frosty and Skipper. This is more than an adoption; it symbolises a drive for change. We haven’t stopped at adoption and are excited to add a Suzuki EECO to the SANCCOB fleet, purchased from and proudly branded by Tavcor Suzuki Port Elizabeth in Mount Road.
This versatile “workhorse” is now on the front lines, being used for critical rescues and releases. Whether it’s transporting a bird in need of urgent care or heading to a beach for a successful release back into the wild, we are honoured that a Tavcor vehicle is helping SANCCOB navigate their vital mission.
When you support Tavcor, you aren’t just joining a family of motorists—you’re supporting the conservation of the beautiful coastline we all share.
Keep an eye out for Rocky, Frosty, and Skipper updates on our social media!
